Wright was expelled from BHS, Ridgview is his home school where he lives "across the street". He and his mother have been told by the coaches and his "Proway Coach Deacon" how great and wonderful he is. The grade changing caught up to this kid! He finally came up against someone who actually cared enough to stop the train wreck that was happening. More teachers/Coaches should be this way. Stop thinking a Championship game (ring) is more important than a lesson... if your ineligible so be it. If you are NOT a D1 type caliber player, be honest. Parents always think their kids is better then they actually are. In this case, yes, Wright is a good athlete but his mother and Wright (and don't be fooled by this article) didn't care enough about his grades.

Don't be surprised if Cameron Williams heads to Calabassas... that's what he has been putting all over his social media!

BDF, I agree that BHS has had some issues this year. What the root of said issues is I'm not 100% sure, but I'm with you that the "good" deacon was not helping matters. I have to disagree with "being glad" a kid quits, I don't believe it's ever ok to quit. Great lesson: when you don't like the way things are quit. Here's a thought, how about stick it out because there are times in life when others get treated differently at work and you have to learn to deal with it. You talk about ethics after saying you're glad a kid quit, that makes no sense what so ever. You and people with a mindset like that are what is wrong; you take a valuable teaching opportunity and you choose the easy way out...quit.

Teddy
I guess I should clarify as to why I'm glad my son quit.  The coaches only allow certain players to miss days without notice, calling a coach  or having to answer to anyone. My son, was taking a class  at the college and was threatened over and over again, "if he missed anymore practices he would be kicked off". He missed 2 practices for taking a online summer school class and had to go in a take a Cumulative exam and a Final. But was threatened of being kicked off. We met with his position coach who flip flop through it all. So we allowed him to quit to continue his education. Other than that, NO way would we let our son quit, you finish what you start in our family. Unless, your hands are tied.

As I stated in the VERY beginning of the Summer time. BHS has a ton of outside and inside issues that have plagued them this year. They will lose to Liberty and this time it won't be by a field goal.

BHS has lost players due to being ineligible and injuries during practice.

As soon as Golla figures out that his "salesman" (which has convinced Golla on how you need to treat certain athletes) goes away, BHS for the next few years will be as bad as ever if he doesn't straighten this out.

I'm thankful my son quit this year. As intelligent as he is, kids know when Coaches treat others differently just because they can offer you a possible ring? How about let's get back to ethics! This season, hopefully opened Golla's eyes and will get rid of the outside B.S and get back to what he was brought to BHS for.. Winning Tradition!

I agree with MW1! All Nixon needs to do is shut down Ochoa to Wright. Wright is NOT a good side to side runner, stack the box and Ochoa and Wright will be done. Then, Golla will need to put Williams in and Liberty will have a Pick 6 on half of his throws, the rest will be an interception or over throw.

Liberty is hungry to beat the Drillers and know they have the right momentum now to do just that. Nixon is a highly respected coach over at Liberty and DOES NOT allow daddy's to come and tell him how or who to play. Will they be Valley Champs? No, but they will be league Champs!

Garces- Stockdale is just AWFUL

Frontier - Centennial is just AWFUL

This years SWYL play is just AWFUL

btw...anyone seen or heard from that Deacon? He's awful quiet from all of his comments preseason.

Kickingfan, i'm thinking I know who you are! I agree with you on the negative feedback the players have been receiving since the Deacon came on here and put his foot in his mouth; regarding this team and players. Let's not forget the 2012 team and how "good of players they were" and "how bad of players they became".

btw..Kickingfan, your son is KILLING it in College!

Been out of town and always love the entertaining topics and conversations!

I'm up to speed now on what has been going on with the Drillers.

Teddy and Khigh5... I have been told ALOT of "injuries" for the super stars last week and during the week. Only practicing about 20 minutes and then need some TLC. Cam is "healed" but I doubt being "healed" will make him any better, HES NOT A QB!
One of the Jernigan brothers (#2) has a MCL issue and i've been told that "Daddy Deacon" is forcing him to play and his younger brother (#25) broke his shin either 1-2 years ago and was forced to go back to football early and now that is causing him issues.
Tahj has a hip issue that nobody can figure out what he did to it (seemed fine last week) maybe HE, ME, I need some attention?
other players from the "Proway team" are hurt as well. Again, nobody knows what's wrong. They just are like every other team in the Valley and State.. you have bumps and bruises

Let's see if Golla plays all the "hurt" players. #2, #9, #20, #22, #25 if I was a parent on this team and my son didn't play a game because he missed 1 practice and these boys get to play... There would be major discussions behind closed doors between KHSD, Golla and Admin.

BHS vs CHS - I think this will be close (not sure why it would be, depends what type of attitudes show up) BHS 20 CHS 13
Frontier 14 Stockdale 7
Liberty 21 Garces 24 (Garces is VERY deceiving)

I called this in the Summer time! This is a ME team and has been coming for the last 2 years. The coaches cannot control these players, let's stop worrying about hurting players/parents feelings and start to discipline these players who think they are D1 all-stars. Do not tell me for ONE- second if the injured players played in this game, it would have been a better turn out for the Drillers. Yes, Jones is a "X Factor" for the Drillers but the C. Bell transfer from South plays and runs just as hard.  I noticed that one of the Jernigan brothers wasn't playing but he's not a key factor in a win or loss for BHS. So who's to blame? Poor play calling by the OC, DC, Head Coach, players or the Daddy's who won't allow their players to be coached by Coaches who are PROVEN Valley and State contenders and WINNERS!!!

I want to know... why in the world didn't the Driller coaches call time out to "ice the kicker"? Calm your team down after #22 decided to jump over the offensive line, instead they allow 3 more Drillers to jump over and cause another 5 yard penalty. In the last 2-4 seconds, BHS had a total of 10 yards in penalties. What would have been a 43 yard FG attempt became a 33! They had 3, 3 time outs!

#18 IS NOT A QB! Any BHS coaches reading this, do us all a favor, STOP PLAYING HIM.
#8
Even though the Drillers won 30-9, the game was close to the end. The extra TDs came from crap minutes. This game was painful to watch. The score does not dictate the level of play that took place. Manning and the OC should be fired! Who in their right mine goes for it when you are on 4th down and on the Drilers 1 yard line? Their punter was not bad, he could have at least punted the ball about 35 yards. Ridgeviews #33 (Cruz) should have ran the ball more than he was given. He ran the ball each carry about 5-8 yards every time he touched the ball! He was too much for the Drillers. Either he's out of shape and can't stay in longer than 2 plays or the play calling on RHS side was just that bad. The Drillers game is very, very slow. Not the type of football we are use to to from the type of athletes BHS has. I guess we were spoiled these last few 100 plus years. Cams is a robot, we all know where the ball is going, down field, Taj Wright. Taj finally showed up tonight but against the big boys, he was silent. Ochoa should stay on Defense and stop playing QB, such a waste switching the 2 QBs back and forth.  Drilers, a win is a win.

I'd like to have faith in the Drillers for this game, but I just don't think they can pull it together. QB's will continue to struggle and not hit their targets, over throws and interceptions will kill BHS against Ridgeview. BHS opening day full of alumni and fans coming to watch the Drillers defeat the Wolfpack, it will be a big stage for these boys to continue the tradition of Bakersfield High School. Let's hope they are disciplined against RHS.

Valencia - Too much for the Drillers to handle. Hopefully, by next week they can start to Win but it wont be on Friday. The SWYL league is weak this year so its anyones guess who will take 1st.

Liberty - Ridgeviews top players have all be "recruited/taken" by other schools, they arn't the same Ridgeview like they use to be.

Frontier - Playing well and hoping they bring home the Win.

Stockdale - Stockdale should walk away with this but you never know, West has that running back who is a grown man.

Centennial - Going with the G-Hawks for this one. They are due a win and their QB is one of the best in town right now.

Garces - Edison is so undisciplined, this is a guess. But i'd like to see Garces win this game and continue from there.

Chaminade -  I would LOVE to see BHS pull out the W but I just can't see it at the beginning of the season.
Liberty - Had a tough game last week but Central is the clear #1 in the Valley. Same team from last years Valley Championship team that barely lost to the Drillers.
Stockdale - Mustangs will pull out the win
Centennial -
Garces -  Just gonna put Garces.. Hometown and lets see if they have any fight in them to pull out the W.

Really tough to read this stuff. But MW1 I don't argue with truth great assessment. I just people weren't cowards and I hide behind blogs and say what they really feel openly. That's the biggest problem with this team these kids have people laughing and joking with them and at the same times with knives in their backs. Coaches are divided because somwbody messed up the tradition of sophomore or younger players playing front of the senior or the kid who been here longer or dad is the coach of a youth team who runs the same offense. To keep bringing up Pro Way is stupid I have to believe this person or persons is so ignorant 7 on 7 will never take the place of tackle football but for recruiting purposes just as Club Volleyball, Travel Baseball , Basketball , and Soccer that's where 7on 7 Football is like it or not look around. But we live in the bubble of Mayberry (Bakersfield).  To Khighfive you must not have been watching close both Jernagin boys played the entire game Isaiah went Out the game after being burned on a slant and gave up said had cramps bull. Just quit like everyone else on his team. The other played the entire game. Let's keep it truthful all the way but I forgot you won't you have fake name on here. Please... Hey coaches from BHS on here remember Babylon was destroyed from within not outside sad that you come everyday coach the same kids you run down and go put the ring on and boast yet would like to see the team you coach fall because you can't get your way SAD....

Although this post is very hard to read, let me address a few things that I know 100% to be true.

The reason why this team will be seated 3rd or 4th in league is because this team is a "I" and "ME" team and in playoffs they will be ranked 5th or 6th. Its not because they don't have talent, they do. Are they all D1? NOT AT ALL! (but i'm not here to talk about college) This team for the last 2 years has had to suffer at the hands of 1 person, the head coach! Golla has allowed YOU, Deacon, to persuade him into thinking he needs to treat "certain" kids differently than others. Not sure if you are aware of this, but kids can see right thru double standards. They will not play as a team, if they don't get treated as a team. As soon as Golla takes his blinders off and remembers how he use to coach, they will then be successful. But until then, we will continue to see all of the so-called all stars "cramp" and be the first off the field. Just sit back and observe. When BHS is down, all the boys who have been treated like "kings" are the first to sit on the bench. The 2nd and 3rd string players, who have the real heart and loyalty will be there to pick up the pieces. Mark my word, not one of these players will stay at BHS after this year if they have a losing season, you will hear their names somewhere else.

Did we have these same kids on the team last year? Yes, the majority. The only reason they were successful is because the group of seniors last year were all leaders. There was not 1 or 2 captains, there was 25! They didn't allow this crap that is taking place. Before season started, you had Tahj claiming he was going to Calabassas, you had Shane Jones saying he was going to Garces, you have Cams dad constantly threatening Golla that he is leaving. Deacon is 24/7 in everyone's ears on who to play and where. All of these players are AVERAGE players in Bakersfield. As you saw when Orem came to town, they are small fish in a big pond. Golla is a GREAT coach, when he is allowed to coach.

As for the QB position, you are correct MW1 and Khigh5, Golla is being pressured to keep Cam in as the starter. It was like this last year and this year. Good kid but he is not a QB. People keep talking about him having a "cannon of an arm" "great arm". I  could swear he over throws Tahj and McGill more than he can complete a pass. I don't care if he has a strong arm, if he cant complete a pass or pitch he is useless. He and Ochoa cannot read the Defense, this cannot be a surprise to anyone. Maran is young but he can pick apart the defense when given the chance. No surprise what he did with Orem. But will he continue to get a shot? I highly doubt it, which is sad and only hurting the team.

I was here during the 2012 team and 2015, this team by far surpasses both of those teams by having all the talent in the world but not being able to come together because outside pressure is just too much.

7v7 is NOT like club volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball.  You have an entire team playing. I just can't even discuss the ignorance in this comment, I just can't. As you can tell, Deacon, the 7v7 has worked out great with the BHS team!

Lastly, you bring up that "Babylon was destroyed from within not outside". Let me leave you with this;

A wise old man was talking to a boy and said, "There are two wolves always fighting inside me. One is filled with Anger, Hate, Jealousy, Shame and Lies.
The other wolf is filled with Love, Joy, Truth and Peace.
This battle rages inside of you and all men".
The boy thought for a moment and asked, "Which wolf will win?"
The old man answered
"The one you feed".

Keep the Fame in the Driller Name!

Rumor has it...they did not add a 8th lane. (Somebody messed that one up) So they cannot hold any "official" track meets at BHS, you need the 8th lane for sprints! A lot of money thrown away that could have helped the school / boosters.

But other than this... looking good and ready for Go time!

Here are pro ways (Central Valley) fees since he claims he doesn't get paid..

$200 start-up fee at the beginning of the season.
They say they are sponsored by Adidas, so the attire is "discounted"
Trainings/camps are anywhere between $20-$40 each
Individual training (depends who you are) $$
They just went to a "unofficial visit" to Arizona that cost each player $175.

Now, Holmes in Calabasas is legit. He has credentials in the sport, this man does not. He's a good salesman, but when you continue to promise everyone and charge people for empty promises, your skeletons will come out!

He has claimed to be everything BUT a football player.
As for the "fat-man" he is talking about.

He is referring to the man who runs Golden Empire Youth TACKLE football who had to ban D.J from the league. (I won't get into details of that but you can only imagine)

I'm not sold on this 7v7 load of crap these boys attend every weekend. Don't get me wrong, getting in reps and continuing with your team for "chemistry" is great but claiming they are getting offers left and right, I just don't buy it.  Not one college has asked to see their transcripts? Not one College has watched a live game? But they offer a kid on "touch football"?

All this is doing, is sending the wrong message to these boys. At the end of the day, if you can't even handle going to high school,  how are you and why are you wanting to go to college? #D1bound

Half of these kids are ineligible academically if you take away their PE and electives...

Unfortunately, Maran was injured at practice this week. Was hoping to be able to play, but he can't. This game would've been different with Maran was in.
Great kid and he would've been out there if possible.
Prayers to the Maran family

Yes, he is here..

Ridgeview HC Dennis Manning told news reporter: in order to appeal Jamar Moya's suspension Friday, they must provide video of him not throwing a punch.

So he will not be playing Friday.
#20
I'm sure the refs are VERY familiar with Ridgeviews dirty antics and hopefully this year will be watching. Moya has a reputation of being a dirty player, let's not think for one second this team is disciplined. Sadly, their past display of sportsmanship is coming full circle.
The second reaction will always be caught.
