When did coach Robinson retire?
He never retired. He passed away in 2002.
He did retire from coaching prior to passing away. Good guy, great coach.
Hey coach Hurd, where does the old Orosi coach fall on this list I believe it's Ed Coats?I know him and Leo had some knock down drag out games.
Big, I'll dig the record book out tommorrow and post the local numbers I have but they are not updated and Mr. Barnett will not share info.
I know when Coach Plummer retired, he had the most in the city/section, what was the number?
Here is what Mr. Barnett's book says as of 91
Coach School Record Years
Robinson Woodlake 228-77-8 1962-91
Briggs Bakersfield 209-99-12 1953-85
Driffith Bakersfield 207-50-26 1908-45
Eliades North Bako 168-121-8 1953-84
Garten Coalinga 158-101-5 1961-86
Permenter Foothill 155-113-8 1965-91
Kelly Redwood 149-71-2 1969-88
Simons Roos&Clovis 144-42-6 1975-91
Coats Orosi 138-110-9 1965-91
B. Sparks Mad&DP 128-43-33 1966-81
Once again this is only covering the years up too 1991
I was fortunate enough to be coached by Marion Ancich for a year when he took a 2 year sabatical from St. Paul. He is without question one of the better defensive minds in the game, and that is at any level. I looked St Paul up on the web and he is still coaching their as of 2011 (they havent updated their page). That is one guy who will die on the field.
i would think that casanova would be on the updated version of CS win leaders
Ed coats from 1965-1996 not 1991!!!! Then he came back in 2003 and 2004.. Truely a well respected and class act..at age 81 still helping with golf and other things for the orosi High Players..
.... Griffith lost four seasons due to WW I & II also are his wins counting the years when Rugby was played instead of football?
Also Briggs coached at two two high schools (not in CA) before taking the Driller job ... Briggs was only the THIRD Driller head coach ....
Kelly was starting LE on the '57 Driller team that was 7-1-1 losing only to the Fresno Warriors 7-0 and tying the EB Blades @ 19 ...
Yea,Ed Coats was also out of coaching in 1980 and 81,then came back in 82.But I thought he would have had more wins than that.
