Was watching CNN while at a bar/restaurant in Newport on Tuesday. Didn't hear sound.  CNN headline was.  "What am I going to tell my children".   Premise of the report was the concern from a black mom about what she should tell her children about the situation of the cop getting off.

I said to my business associates, in a fairly resonating voice, "teach your kids to NOT DO DRUGS, Not commit crimes, perticipate i productive activities and don't attack police officers and guess what.....you would be a good FU);(/(&ng parent"

Actually got applause from around the bar

Homecoming tonight.... FSU is wearing red vs. their old PCAA rival SJSU.  Does Burrell start? Greenlee looked ill prepared to start last week. That or he isn't very good.

Too bad both schools schedule over their head. I remember great games and a packed stadium when these two hooked up in the 80's.

They used to schedule very similarly, just then it wasn't considered over their heads.  Only thing that's changed is.......

I have no problem with better, more efficient vehicles, fossil fuel or otherwise. (Nuclear Power comes to mind) The problem I have is with half truths, deceitful information, and out and out lies to promote a certain view point/political opinion.  If a product is beneficial, let it compete in an open market on its own merit, without government subsidies or support.  Consumers are smart enough to figure out what is best for them.

Coach S - ALthough i agree with you in theory, the reality is......   Our current GOOBERMINT and Social Re-Engineering Project Heads have actually made such a vast majority of the population totally or partially DEPENDENT on so many things, that the normal consumer is actually NOT smart enough to figure that out anymore. (heck, just reference most democratic supporter points of view)  Thats why the Consumer continues to allow their GOOBERMINT and social re-engineering mucketymucks to make their decisions for them.

Hell, no more supersize drink cups in NY, that kind of about says it all.

hsfan's Off Topic / Your thoughts on Katie Holmes
« on: October 30, 2014, 11:54:12 AM »
OK, i had a very good opportunity to share a fun, interesting, and very educational 3 hour plane ride from OK. City, yesterday.

There was a special guest on the plane that the OCV actually had an opportunity to sit right next too, and get to know more than just reading about her in the tabloids.

Katie Holmes was on my flight with her personal assistant, and since i was touching elbows with her the entire trip, i did get a unique opportunity to formulate a very interesting opinion of the former Mrs Cruise after we participated in some idle banter, as well as keen observations from an astute expert on personal behavior - ME.

Needless to say, if everyone in the Hollywood/LA/Entertainment industry were just like K.Holmes, i can tell you that the world should just force every actor in hollywood into a Jim Jones Peoples Temple in Guyana film remake, and actually spike the grape punch with cyanade.

What an absolutely interesting but worthless waste of genetics and a first class seat.   Narcissism, cluelessness, tri-polar(of the medicated variety), brainwashed(of the electroshock type), are just some of the more pertinent descriptors that come to mind.

Also, in real life, not anywhere NEARLY as physically attractive as on TV/big screen.  Her assistant actually apologized to me for Ms. Holmes attitude and behavior when we exited the airplane, saying she was under a lot of stress, since she is trying to have her COMING OUT party after the divorce by doing recent interviews in People Magazine, Good Morning America and David Letterman.  She was actually yelling at the exec producer of THE VIEW on the phone while the stewardess had to hold up the flight leaving the gate until she shut her phone off, saying she already did People magazine and she didnt want to waste her time with THE VIEW, on the phone right beside me.  Was fascinating stuff.

If this is what people idolize, then Idiocracy has already overcome us.

What's a mandatory self quarantine?

Would have to ask the state of NJ or the author of the first internet link stating self quarantine.  Only reason they left her out of the FORCED quarantine was that she promised to comply with a self quarantine, didnt she?

Boy, was I disappointed when i clicked on the link.  Seeing a title claimed Hot Encounters............. oh well, back to work.

Instead of the states cracking down on ignorant biotches and bahstahds like this, the Dept of Homeland Security should have oversite.  Anyone not complying with mandatory self quarantine COULD BE and SHOULD BE declared a Terrorist against the country and Homeland Security can sweep in, ship them off to Guantanamo, and THEN lets see how much the ignorant narcissistic douchebag complains.

College and Pros / Re: Florida State vs. Norte Dame
« on: October 25, 2014, 07:07:11 AM »
couldn't bring myself to watch those two....

one is institutionally (both in the school and the community) coddling criminals ....

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/12/us/florida-state-football-casts-shadow-over-tallahassee-justice.html?_r=0

while the other is so self righteously pious ..... they hold themselves out t be "different from the rest"...... yet their treatment of and student's rape by players was no different than FSU..... and they didn't change the way they handled sexual assaults until that girl was dead and their Title IX funding was on the line...

http://ncronline.org/news/accountability/reported-sexual-assault-notre-dame-campus-leaves-more-questions-answers
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-the-people/wp/2012/12/04/why-i-wont-be-cheering-for-old-notre-dame/

you all will tell me how I'm wrong... or this goes on everywhere (which is a horrifying thought)... or innocent until proven guilty..... but, the hypocrisy of NCAA D1 football is wearing on me....

Agree 100 percent with scrubster on this one.  Even the schools and institutions that do it right, and are light years more ethical and direct when it comes to academic and personal behavior accountability,  still have exceptions galore.  Until the NCAA adopts an independent council of  40 rotating investigators/compliance officers/auditors that actually perform random 3 week in house all encompassing school audits with 100 % full autonomy during their visits, schools like the SEC cheats, the normal cast of  regular characters you hear about on this topic, and even the GOOD GUYS, will continue to bend, break, ignore, or turn a blind eye to the crap being  swept Under the rug.

The hypocrisy of Notre Dame and the blatant examples Scrub points out is just as bad as the Florida State blatant disregard for the rules and for what is right.  Both examples are just as heinous.

This topic is very near and dear to me and is truly a sad story.  The increased sensitivity to this issue is promising, but also have to say that we as fans have NOT even seen The tip of the iceberg on this subject.  Having a son go from replacing Anthony Barr as starting outside linebacker at UCLA to being medically retired is devastating and still very hard to absorb.  Seeing that same son go through the recovery process to 3 major concussions, to see the physical, behavioral, emotional, changes that occur during the process of healing is 100 times worse.

The scariest part of the culture in football is the players desire to play, even when their head gets seriously damaged, coupled with the delicate balance of the coaching staffs having to be very aware of the situation, but not crying wolf every time someone gets their bell rung.

I would also venture an educated guess that anyone that has played competitive football in HS and college has a 60-80% chance of CTE or CTE type symptoms or effects after the age of 40.   When this whole subject becomes as studied and probed as it should, I am guessing my numbers will be low, actually.

Medical sterilization implant in all females who are citizens at age 12.  Must submit proof of sustained financial viability and sound mental health for removal.  Replaced with child bearing authorization transmitter.

Please add "Signed contract with outside party(man or woman) that legally binds both for 18 years of FULL responsibility"

Pregnant teens is an epidemic.......not sure if it's a disease.......but there are a host of public health issues that surround teen/unwanted pregnancies.....

Agree 100%. It is an epidemic

100% disagree - it IS a disease.  The disease is called STUPIDITY.  Causes of the disease are laziness, genetics, lack of personal responsibility, and a few other variables that would be a waste of time to discuss.

In today's day and age, you would have to look far and wide to find a 12 year old who doesn't know how people get pregnant, and have to have an IQ less than a kumquat not to know the dozens of ways to prevent said biological event.  Like a hangover from a drunken nite on the town, (which is "unwanted" too) the unwanted result is easier to accomplish than passing a first grade spelling test when you are 18 years old.  I cringe every time I hear the words. "Unwanted pregnancy" or "accidental".    If you don't want it, it's probably the easiest result of a biological function to prevent.

stupidity and ignorance is a disease

You are so full of it. Only an idiot could read what you said into what I posted.

Now valley, no need to point out  what is written in the CVHSPREPS bylaws and guidelines.

Article 3, section 43.5 - paragraph 2.      While posting in reply to XXXXXXXX. please remember not to be insulting when expressing incredulity and surprise when people on the attached list read something and totally don't understand logical trains of conversation.

List:
1.  XXXXXXX. Name withheld due to privacy laws.
2. There is only one name on this list.

Now THATS the news station with anchors that I would listen too.

HAHA, that was great.  I like the comment from one of the single mom posters, Solara Sonano or something like that.  'blah blah blah the kids walk them SELFS to school cause blah blah blah - single moms need the assistance.

Still dont understand how being a single mom has become so damn 'accepted' and normal.  If goobermint didnt pay for people to get pregnant who cant even support themselves, maybe there would be enough money in the education pool to teach people how to use twitter and spell properly.

I am willing to bet that the individual accepted to Harvard, even though undocumented, spelled the word "undocumented" correctly ;)

The comparative diatribe going on in this thread seems to be a bit muddled when it comes to comparing individual variables while trying to express individual opinions.

1. First point, undocumented means illegally working and living within our borders and not following the Laws of the Land while habitating within our jurisdictional area of concern.  There are a million variables to this subset that can then be argued pro and con.  majority are con, but a few large, emotional ones are for.  This is one topic/variable at play

2.  Private institution giving a free education to someone who isn't a U.S. citizen.   Hate to say it, go to Harvard, Yale, etc, and roughly 25% of the accepted student body is NOT a documented citizen of the US. Students from IRANIAN, N.Korea, Syria, China, Venezuela, and other terrorist nations, and there is NO PROBLEM. It's a totally different variable, with different rules that need to be adhered too, and different subset altogether.

Comparing the two with broad stroke opinions and emotions may be fun, but the rules, the cause and effect, and the resultant harm/good analysis has very little, if any similarity or comparative basis.

Now if it was a public university using taxpayer money, then there is a tie in.  If the "undocumented" doesn't get the proper student visa, then there is a tie in.  However the set of rules and regulations that govern each separate situation make it hard to tie the two together.

Hoping they have a great turnout. West Point, being very close, should travel well.

Denver, if I could make a suggestion, I would recommend going on a weekend they play Harvard or Princeton.  Yale bowl holds 60,000 plus, and for Harvard, they usually draw about 55-60,000 and feels like a REAL college football game.  Very old school, traditional, and amazing.  Princeton draws about 20k. Other home games about 10-14,000 and stadium feels empty.  It's funny, the years that Yale is home to Harvard they lead the nation in in D1AA attendance average.

Will look into it.  THey are usually on the YES channel in the east coast.  Obviously Yale doesnt get national recognition.  Yale streams the games, but and covers it with Radio Voiceover.
