1  Everything Else / Off Topic / Re: Why Are We Doing ANY Business with China?! on: February 24, 2013, 06:45:01 PM
Just to bring this topic back up....yellow fever is irresistible. Cheap labor...no real monitory codes...if I wanted to make the biggest profits possible..I'm staying in China. We all know, Right or Left, money has a big influence in politics
2  Central Section Football / Varsity Discussion / Re: CIF CS Web Site on: September 19, 2012, 09:21:00 AM
Hard to believe, but the CIF CS has finally updated their website.  It looks really sharp, and organized.

www.cifcs.org

It finally is not white! Gajeeeeeebus! Lol.

So, aside from deficit that Obama has 'created', how would YOU (different from Romney and Ryan) adjust taxes (usage, tax %)?

Locked and not loaded per complaints.

Katrina is overused.. I dont know if it the $10 prostitute at the corner or if it was a storm... Truth aside, people need to learn to drop the Katrina thing.. It is more of a 'racial' thing than anything.
9  Central Section Football / Varsity Discussion / Re: EYL/WYL week 1 on: August 27, 2012, 08:44:30 PM
Lets get some predictions for week 1.

TW@MW
Misson Oak @ HW
TU vs. Clovis East
ELD @ Clovis North
Hanford @ Monache
Redwood @ Centennial 30-28
GW vs. Kingsburg
Lemoore vs. Sunnyside
Porterville @ West

I chose Redwood because I am biased.
10  Central Section Football / Varsity Discussion / Re: centralvalleyfootball.coms new top 25 poll on: August 27, 2012, 08:40:56 PM
We should have a weekly members poll for the top ranked teams in the section? Pros and cons. GO!
11  Everything Else / Off Topic / Re: Gun Control on: August 11, 2012, 02:53:11 PM
Gun control should be more about bullet control and what type of guns but, there is also a different perspective. There are some gun laws that that I would agree on but honestly, these gun laws dont do much. It is about the quantity of the gun/bullets. Do you really need a submachine gun or a magazine that could hold 50+ or even 20+?

Side note, do you think people would be more cautious about trying to rob or shoot someone if there was a high chance the other person had a gun? I think an interesting take on gun control would be to allow anyone competent who passes a gun safety/training course, to carry a concealed handgun.

Wild, wild west style. Git 'r done.
12  Everything Else / Off Topic / Re: Co. Shooting...this guy is on the couch...... on: July 25, 2012, 08:40:35 PM
Thought this was the funniest (sarcastic) story from the shooting.... Sometimes, I guess the ones who run away are the smart ones...
13  Everything Else / Off Topic / Re: Interesting graphic on four year college graduation rates. on: July 24, 2012, 09:58:06 AM
Just a Fan is spot on.

ALso, Scrubs variable that he throws in...
You also have a demographic of students more "at risk" to not finish in four years .....  If there was a corresponding graph of students working more than 20 hours per week, I would bet that graph would be inverted with the CSU'S at the top & the privates at the bottom......  While admirable, and in many ways desirable, students juggling work & school are more likely to take longer, especially if budget cuts mean classes are not readily available to fit around a work schedule.
If someone is juggling class times, to facilitate work times, they would not be considered a full time student, would they?  Full time student impliles class comes first, work is second.  Wouldnt the 'juggling' be the other way around.

Most studies show that, for kids that are paying for their own school, versus mommy/daddy/gubbermint paying ftheir own school, the graduation rates are higher;

I chose school over work. Written up for it but was never fired because I am a beast. Smile But I do know others who would rather work than go to school. School seemed like a second option because it was either, pay rent and survive or go to class, not get paid and be more in debt. In another example, I also know others who work 30+hours a week and still attend school full time (12 units is the requirement). And one thing that does rustle my jimmies are the people who pay tuition with financial aid and dont attend class....
14  Everything Else / Off Topic / Re: Interesting graphic on four year college graduation rates. on: July 23, 2012, 11:09:42 PM
Surprised to see my school in the middle, as I expected it to be towards the bottom. I graduated in four years but know MANY people who have been there for 4+ years and/or entered before I did. An interesting statistic I would like to see is the drop out rate of Freshman before major cuts and currently.

And Just_A_Fan, I believe that most people do commute to school at CSU's because they are more local. For instance, when you ask someone at a CSU, I would bet the majority are from within a 50 mile radius as compared to a UC, where most people come from 50+. At Cal, for the people I have talked to that attend/ed, they are not from the Bay Area but come from SoCal or out of state.

From my experience as an undergraduate at my college, the trend of students home location is changing. The school had been accepting more students from outside the Bay Area as compared to the local students. I dont know if that is the case with a lot of CSUs or maybe because my school was a ghost town on weekends.
15  Everything Else / Off Topic / Re: Whats wrong with this picture? on: July 06, 2012, 02:53:16 PM
I blame it all on the ACLU, NAACP & of course MSNBC.

Fixed. I actually believe more in CNN than MSNBC or FOX.

Being of a minority, I HATE IT when there are one race-type organizations/meetings/slogans. One of the things that I see around the Valley from time to time is "Brown Pride" or "Asian Pride." Take pride in what you are but don't get mad when someone has a "White Pride" on their 4x4 also.
16  Everything Else / Off Topic / Re: Only in America - 4th of July Update on: July 06, 2012, 02:50:19 PM
I like your list Original.. quite interesting, biased, laughable and educating in all aspects. IdunnowhattothinkaboutMericanow.

Irritating to read/hear that only Muslims kill and only Muslims are terrorists. Same poop different scooper. Jewish genocides, Christian genocides, Muslim genocides. Would rather believe in the stories of war over stealing brides.

That is fantastic... really it is. Humble man and it has always seemed that way about Cena when he is depicted as a bad guy. I still remember his rap song video of him just showing love to his family and friends.

Sad thing is, this brother was the better behaved of the two brothers. Used to coach him in baseball and football, and was part of the kids entourage early on.  We banned him from our house in 7th grade due to being out of control and doing bad things and illegal things.  How do people get to be this STUPID.

From the report.. seems like he was a good wrestler? Must have been good enough for the officer to taze a bro. Smile
