Didn't Bullard Beat Inglewood on Mucumbas 3 pointer? Huh?
You're right I forgot about that.
2  Everything Else / hsfan's Off Topic / Re: Jury Nullification - Know what it is? on: Yesterday at 09:25:50 AM
I have jury duty for the first time starting January 5th. I really hope I don't get selected.
3  Central Section / Basketball / Re: CW Invitational(Boys) on: Yesterday at 09:21:30 AM
Inglewood beat Clovis West 67-60 last night. They outscored CW 26-15 in the 4th quarter. Good tournament for CW despite the loss. They look like the team to beat in D1 this year.
4  Central Section / Central Section Football / Re: final Oceanside 37 Edsion 22 on: December 20, 2014, 10:47:35 PM
From what I've watched this weekend I think Folsom would beat both of the teams playing in the open game. Especially against Centennial who has no defense at all.
5  Central Section / Central Section Football / Re: Open Division Game on: December 20, 2014, 10:46:04 PM
Are you freakin kidding me CIF??? I see all of the other games and now I can't watch the final game Huh? Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down
Comcast Sportsnet Plus. It wasn't on the regular channels because it clashed with the Sharks game & the 49ers postgame show. It was on the regular Time Warner channel.
6  Central Section / Central Section Football / Re: State Bowls are moving to Sacramento starting next year... on: December 20, 2014, 10:44:35 PM
I guarantee you more people will show up in Sacramento. Just over 17,000 the last two days. That's pathetic.
7  Central Section / Basketball / Re: CW Invitational(Boys) on: December 20, 2014, 04:02:33 PM
Inglewood beat Edison last night 79-63. Inglewood & Clovis West play tonight at 6:30. The only two teams that haven't lost this week.
8  Central Section / Basketball / Re: CW Invitational(Boys) on: December 20, 2014, 03:53:35 PM
Canyon Springs beat Clovis East 59-58 last night. Clovis East is 0-3 in the tournament. They play River City tonight at 5pm. They could easily go 0-4 this week. Definitely better teams in this tournament then the teams they faced in Balersfield & Las Vegas.
9  Central Section / Central Section Football / Re: State Bowls are moving to Sacramento starting next year... on: December 20, 2014, 01:02:14 PM
I'll be willing to make the trip now. Sacramento State will provide a much better atmosphere then what they have in Carson.
10  Central Section / Basketball / Re: CW Invitational(Boys) on: December 19, 2014, 08:34:09 PM
Clovis West beat Foothill(Santa Ana) 59-51. Foothill was 8-0 & ranked 12th in the state. CW finishes the week out tomorrow at 6:30 vs Inglewood.
11  Central Section / Basketball / Re: CW Invitational(Boys) on: December 19, 2014, 02:50:33 AM
Foothill-Santa Ana 68 Clovis East 45 this is actually closer then it was. Foothill plays Clovis West tonight at 6:30. Both teams haven't lost in this tournament.
12  Central Section / Basketball / Re: CW Invitational(Boys) on: December 18, 2014, 08:03:42 PM
River City-West Sacramento 62 Edison 60
Clovis West 61 Canyon Spring-Las Vegas 48
Bullard 59 Inglewood 56
Clovis East vs Foothill-Santa Ana to finish out the night. CW looks like the team to beat in D1. A little early though to jump to that conclusion.
13  Central Section / Basketball / Re: CW Invitational(Boys) on: December 18, 2014, 07:01:45 PM
Edison did beat Canyon Springs-Las Vegas 61-59.
14  Central Section / Central Section Football / Re: Every Section Champion goes to a bowl? on: December 18, 2014, 06:56:43 AM
Last year's Texas 5A D1 championship game had an attendance of over 54,000. That'd rank 13th among all of last year's college bowl games. The 4A D2 & 5A D2 both had over 30,000 at their games. Both of those would be in the top 30 of bowl games.

When I was in elementary & junior high I was pretty small. But I did wrestle & I had cousins who taught me other things. My mom always told me that if I got in a fight at school I wouldn't get in trouble at home if I was only defending myself. When we lived in the Bay Area I went to a predominantly black school. Being biracial I was picked on constantly. Three kids decided to mess with me one day. I ended up breaking someone's nose & was never messed with again. My dad had gone to the same school & the principal was the same woman who was there when he was in the 70s. I didn't get in trouble. I felt on top of the world as an eight year old.
16  Central Section / Basketball / Re: CW Invitational(Boys) on: December 17, 2014, 09:54:23 PM
Inglewood beat Clovis East 81-66
Clovis West beat River City 54-52. CW trailed 46-36 entering the third quarter. Great game by two good teams. I left before Edison & Canyon Springs started.
17  Central Section / Basketball / CW Invitational(Boys) on: December 17, 2014, 06:22:06 PM
First game of the tourney just ended.
Foothill(Santa Ana) beat Bullard 51-34. The Knights are definitely not the team that they were the past few years. Clovis East is playing Inglewood in the east gym. Clovis West is about to start playing River City(West Sacramento). The last game of the night is Edison against Canyon Springs(Las Vegas).

Nick Wilson is a RB you forgot...Every year we have a ton of guy's go....I dnt knw what you guys are talking about...what planet are you guys from.. Division does not matter..DCarr played D4 Ball, he went D1...Kenny James played D4 Ball he went D1...All thise TU boys didnt play D1..they went to big schools...Cameron Worell...D4 Football, who played D1...The whole small town or what Division u play in thing, Does not matter
Derek Carr spent his first three years of high school playing at Clements in Sugarland, Texas before his family moved back to Bakersfield. Clements is not a small school & they are in Class 6A the highest class in Texas. It also helps having a brother who was drafted #1. His sophomore year they went 8-3 & lost in the first round of the state playoffs. HIs junior year they went 13-1 & lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual state champions. So it didn't matter where DC4 played at his senior year he was going somewhere.

Using this yearís CIF section champions and next yearís proposed format, see for yourself what the matchups might have looked like after they were announced on Sunday. Yes, it is watered down but that doesn't mean a lot of schools are not going to like it.
In these mock selections by Cal-Hi Sports of CIF bowl games with this yearís section champions and next yearís expanded format, itís important to note that some sections may be changing their own playoff formats as well.
In the CIF Central Coast Section, for example, it is proposed that there will be three separate Open Division brackets divided by enrollment in which both the winner and runner-up will be advancing to a CIF regional bowl game.
These mock selections that follow donít take into account any of those changes and simply takes the teams that qualified by winning a section title within the last two weeks and puts the teams into matchups based on competitive equity.
Under the new format, there will be 11 separate divisions with an Open Division (same as this year) plus an Open Division for smaller schools with an enrollment below 1,250 students.
In order to balance the number of schools north and south, the CIF Central Section champions in the proposal for Divisions I, III and V are put into the north with the even numbers in the south.
As with the Open Division in boys and girls basketball, itís going to be a challenge for Northern California schools to match up with Southern California due to the simple higher total of larger school section champions.
In a mock selection that the CIF did itself a few months ago using 2013 section champions, for example, Le Grand in the north was in the same bowl division as San Fernando in the south. Sorry, but thatís just not competitive at all. San Fernando was a 14-0 L.A. City D2 champion while Le Grand was an outstanding small school team but it is a small school.
Here is a look at this yearís teams selected in a mock draft so to speak with next yearís proposal (remember, section champions only still can only play in a bowl game):
(North teams listed first except for Open Division where there still would be just the one game)

Open Division
De La Salle (Concord) vs. Centennial (Corona)
Same as this year. Wouldnít be different.

Open Division (Small)
Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton) vs. Central Catholic (Modesto)
Christian (El Cajon) vs. Bishopís (La Jolla)
We think Sacred Heart Prep players would rather be in 1A or 2AA than in a small school open division but since the Gators wouldnít be in the overall Open Division theyíd be the first pick for small schools. Central Catholic and Christian also are obvious choices, but we picked Bishopís instead of Liberty (Madera Ranchos) because of the local interest a Bishop vs. Christian matchup would generate.

1AA
Folsom vs. Grant (Sacramento)
Oceanside vs. Mission Viejo
The NorCal game is the same as this year. Itís not Oceanside vs. Fresno Edison like this year because the Tigers would be in the north. The Diablos are the next team in line from the south.

1A
Edison (Fresno) vs. Clayton Valley (Concord)
Redlands East Valley vs. El Capitan (Lakeside)
Since Edison would be in the north and also would be behind Grant of Sacramento, the Tigers would play here against the top-seeded D2 team this year from the north led by a coach (Tim Murphy, the former Clovis East head coach) who knows a lot about the Central Section. In the south, El Capitan may be D2 in San Diego but is ranked ahead of the SD Open Division runner-up (Helix) due to a head-to-head win.

2AA
Oakdale vs. Campolindo (Moraga)
Narbonne (Harbor City) vs. Ridgeview (Bakersfield)
Since Campolindo is clearly ahead of Enterprise of Redding in the rankings, it would be next in line from the north to play Oakdale. The L.A. City champ also would probably be higher than this for most seasons.

2A
Enterprise (Redding) vs. St. Francis (Mountain View)
Crescenta Valley (La Crescenta) vs. St. Augustine (San Diego)
Los Gatos could have replaced CCS D2 champion St. Francis of Mountain View due to being ranked higher (common opponent criteria involving Serra) but losing in the CCS Open Division. However, for purposes of this mock selection, we just picked the actual CCS champions. We did the same for San Diego since Cathedral Catholic also would be a team that lost in an Open Division but still would be higher-ranked than St. Augustine due to head-to-head win. Weíll have to see how those situations are handled.

3AA
Sutter vs. Aptos
Trabuco Hills (Mission Viejo) vs. Paso Robles
This is about the point in the proposed format in which the available SoCal teams begin to have an edge in terms of enrollment, competitive strength of playoff division and other factors.

3A
Hanford vs. McClymonds (Oakland)
Palm Springs vs. Palos Verdes (PV Estates)
Forfeits or not, Mack gets a game in this format and also can be picked for a higher game than Capital Christian since both teams would still be playing. Palos Verdes and Palm Springs were both eligible for the D2 South bowl game this season.

4AA
Salesian (Richmond) vs. San Benito (Hollister)
Colony (Ontario) vs. Garden Grove
Yes, it would be strange to see a CCS D1 winner going up against the NCS D5 champ but itís competitive equity, remember. Colony would have been our bottom team from the CIFSS champions in the D2 South pool while Garden Grove would have been our No. 2 behind Paso Robles among the CIFSS champions who were D3 South.

4A
Capital Christian (Sacramento) vs. Terra Nova (Pacifica)
Pomona vs. Hamilton (Los Angeles)
Again, there will be matchups in these bowls for state titles between schools that are quite large enrollment-wise vs. those that are quite small. A Capital Christian-Hamilton or Capital Christian-Pomona state bowl game would be a prime example but will happen in this system.

5AA
Winters vs. Justin-Siena (Napa)
Liberty (Madera Ranchos) vs. Bishopís (La Jolla)
We have fudged it a bit toward the bottom of the matchups in these mock selections so that unbeatens Liberty and Bishopís could have gone up against each other. Winters vs. Justin-Siena also makes sense since the two schools arenít that far apart on the map.

5A
Mission (San Francisco) vs. Bear River (Lake of the Pines)
Los Angeles vs. Nipomo
Yes, the San Francisco team would probably not be competitive until it got down to some of the smaller schools. Galileo last year would have been higher, but not the Bears this year. Same goes for L.A. High.

6AA
Corcoran vs. Maxwell/Stone Ridge Christian
St. Margaretís (SJ Capistrano) vs. Kennedy/La Jolla Country Day
In the CIFís own mock picks from last year, there was a play-in game among section champions that would have occurred between teams that were done two weekends ago. With the Central Section now having six divisions, the same would need to happen in the south as well.
