Every year the host coaches have way too many kids on the roster due to last minute replacements, they have a standing relationship with the kids and can fill roster spots, it's been that way for 20 years...

west hills cannon, obviously you've never played a game of chess.  They were a lot of stories behind the scenes (for the East Team) that made the game seem better, even if the action in the game was slow in the 2nd quarter and early 4th quarter.  For instance the tribute to the Porterville player Jake Van Winkle #75(lost his life in a car accident the night before his class graduated), the fact that Porterville's QB Coppenbarger #2 was even playing after his brush with cancer and the surgery that he had, it was good to see Titus Grayson #9 from Mt Whitney be a part of a couple of scores (he's been in a group home most of his high school years, he's a good kid, glad to see him play), Joe Marquez #28 (lost his grandfather this year) his grandfather was a huge part of his life, and those are just a few behind the scene dramas for the East Team.  I am sure there were many more, that I am not aware of.  So to see these kids play for possible the last time was special.  Boring, not to me, or I am sure to many others.

Should be some kind of limit on how many players are picked from one team. Kinda hard to play against the nucleus of a team together for four years.

West Side coaches got to choose players from Division 2,3,4, and 5 section champions. East had to fill roster spots with some of their own players. West coaches gave East no chance in the fresno bee and now all the west side guys are making excuses for getting a smack down. East coaches did whats called coaching and motivation not trash talking and making excuses. The excuse comes that it needs to be re-drawn to separate Visalia and Porterville schools but it is pretty close now. West had some players....Cannon Sanchez is a monster scrambling qb. Good job east! West stop complaining!

On a related note-- There was a no blitzing rule that meant the defense could not bring any more then 5 men in a pass rush. If you attended the game im sure you saw West bringing 8 on a regular basis and the east side stayed in base and still won almost all battles. This game should be a straight up battle but some coaches will do anything to win! Too Bad.. Shame-Shame

Two downs west forgot to tackle. If they had tackled instead of hit I think it would have been a shut out. two big runs one for eighty.

I believe the RB was #8 Hicks-Hanford West.  East had some BIG hits in the game which caused a few fumbles, one fumble was cause by #28 Marquez-Redwood when he stripped #8 Hicks of the football which bounced back into Hicks arms while still running, leading to a second touchdown for him.  Weird bounce to come back to him.  I believe the East was better balanced in their O.  They had a more balanced pass and run plays.  The West ran well (This could be due to their Coaching Staff / Delano H S Football was more of a running team than passing) but struggled in the Passing Game (Even though it seemed that the West Squad had an OL size advantage over the East). West Qb's were always rushed and had to scramble most of the night.  On another note I noticed that the West had a couple of players going both ways.  #3 Knight-Kingsburg and #81 Valdivia-Tulare Western where on the field about 90% of the time.  Didn't the West Squad have enough players to field both O and D, instead of players going both ways?  I never saw the East players going both ways.  Also it seemed like the West had 4 Qb's while the East had only 2 Qb's running the O.  Just seemed a little odd to me.

I don't think East had an advantage over West due to there being more players from the Coaches home football team.  Here is a breakdown of both teams and how many players were from each school:

East                                                                  West
Strathmore         8                                              Delano               7
Porterville           5                                              Kingsburg          5
Redwood            4                                              Hanford             5
Woodlake           4                                              Lemoore            5
Lindsay              4                                               Hanford West    2
El Diamante       3                                               Mcfarland          2
Exeter                3                                              Dinuba              2
Farmersville        2                                              Cesar Chavez    3
Granite Hills        2                                              Kings Christian   2
Mt Whitney         1                                              Laton                 1
                                                                          Tulare Western   1
                                                                          Tulare Union       1

Also I was kind of curious as to how Kingsburg gets to send players to this Tulare/Kings All Star Game and also the Fresno City/County All Star Game?
