The  truth  is  that  it  is  extremely  hard  to  coach  Football  for  the  Clovis  Unified  administration . They  have  a VERY  hands on  approach  to  it both  at  the  site  &  district  office  levels .  This  could  be  an Outstanding  job  opportunity  for  the  right  guy  BUT  that  guy  better  be  ready   for  that "hands on" approach  by  the  D.O. He  should  also  be  ready  to  deal  with  a  plan   to  address  the "one sport" attitude that  currently  exists  there . The  truth  is  that  not  every  Buchanan baseball  player is  going  to  play  in  the  major  leagues &  daddy  needs  to  understand  that ( even  if  he  did  make  the "ALL STARS"  8)

Good luck with the search since most candidates wont want to play third fiddle behind baseball and butt dragging.

There will be plenty of candidates I'm sure.  Although wrestling with be very big at Buchanan now with the addition of Troy Tirrapele.  I doubt the butt-drag, sad your still holding on to it, will make much a difference considering the Tirrapele 2 sport athlete approach.  They actually encourage their wrestlers to play football.  I really don't think they lose too much to baseball.  Only one or 2 that have chosen baseball only.

Wrestlers  are  always  a  great  addition  to  any  football  team  &  I  know  all  the  Tirapelle  boys  did  outstanding  at  both. With Troy  at  Buchanan   I'm  sure we  will  see  more  playing  Football  again . Esp  on  Defense  :u:

This is going to be a big hire for Buchanan and CUSD. Whoever they hire has big shoes to fill and better be prepared to understand all aspects of developing a football program from top to bottom. Being successful on the biggest stage in the valley takes a lot of energy, commitment and resources. This position is a year round grind while problem solving on daily basis, controlling player personalities, implementing football skills and implementing new ideas to coaches and players. The coach has a lot of work to do and it's not going to be easy. This position is about being successful on a daily basis. It's not about how many football clinics you speak at or having a couple good seasons on your résumé.

I usually don't get on until football is about to start but football is all season long... 8)
Refresh my memory... Didn't I say that you couldn't be a HC and an AD... Well when options come up and your asked to do one or the other I guess you shouldn't of given the option you didn't want to here... lol

As far as the hiring goes, I think they should go to the greatest offensive mind around... LINDSY where are you. hahaha
The shotgun wing-t at Buchanan.
Oh BTW... I think Clovis has had enough of hiring coaches from out of this area. Nobody is stupid enough to move here and pay more taxes, brought to you by Jerry Brown and Obama-care, that they don't have to pay in TEXAS.

Who are the candidates...
Marty (XBOX) Martin... so he can sue Clovis again and buy another Mercedes this time in RED/WHITE/BLUE
Casey Quinn... Fallen from the grace of CUSD arised in CENTRAL land of oportunity only to see a CUSD/Central school district not suport him.

The stories are endless out here in CUSD. But I have the answer... Stay tune the drama will only get better.

By 'out here in CUSD" are you referring to Clovis Unified or its red headed step brother Central Unified?

You seem like a tough guy
Just my opinion, but my opinion is right

I would like to see Buchanan do a nation wide coach and get a well know coach/teacher that can build a football program bottom up. Someone of the quality of Donald the current baseball coach at Buchanan along with Coach Hall CN and Coach Patrick Clovis are the top Coaches in the valley that build up programs from bottom up and moving players on to next levels of there sports.

Flamingo you better go check your facts on what type of support Quinn had at Central.  Casey got everything he wanted while with the Grizzlies

He walked into a brand spankin' new custom built $100,000 (East campus) weight facility.

He was the beneficiary of a $25,000 up-grade to the West campus weight room when he arrived.

He was given the latitude to practice in a 11 million dollar stadium when ever he saw fit.

He inherited 3 tackle football playing junior high schools and 12 tackle football playing elementary schools (not to mention a pee-wee football league not tied to the school, for the real little ones)

He was given (not fund raised) 2 set of brand new uniforms when he arrived (the money came from the AD budget).

He had full hand in the scheduling (which involved playing games south of the grapevine).

He had as many as 20 football coaches on staff (at the three levels) working in some capacity.

He had full reign over a very large fund raising account (money that was funneled through a QB club).

He was given 3 full periods of football weightlifting (Var/JV and Freshmen on the West campus)

He also had access to the weight room for 5:30 (0 period) am workouts as well as after school (5th period)

He was given three periods of Academic Game Plan (to keep football player eligible) all his classes were with athletic teams (no PE)

The administration compromised themselves by letting his players take an inordinate amount of E2020 and on-line classes to correct academic deficiencies.

The administration approved and endless string of transfers from all over the county.

The administration was uncharacteristically lenient when it came to dealing with football player transgressions.

His team was given carte/blanc in the summer time to pad up when ever they wanted.  The Grizzlies hit all summer long.

The AD approved and endless string of camps for the high school kids as well as the downline feeders teams.

Casey Quinn had it all at Central High School.  I don't know the "real" reason why Casey is no longer there, but I have a damn good idea what happened. (they had just won a share of only the schools second TRAC title). So it was a shock to me when he departed.  But I don't believe it was football related or had anything to do with Central Unified support.

Flamingo, I like casey Quinn, but what you said about the support of the district is an out and out non-truth.  You are right about the fall from grace thing, but it had little to do with what happened in regard to facilities, money, support and game night outcomes!

REAL TALK

UMMMMM!!!!!!

Central HS is the BEST coaching opportunity in the valley based on that post!!

I wonder if Garza got the same thing...

I had to get this post in before it gets locked down for spilling the Central Unified beans!! I am sure the lawyers are on line one!!

Based on that list how could you not be successful.  And add the caliber of athletes they have on top of that.  Sounds like 3 possibly 4 kids from this years team will be signing on signing day.  Wow!!

I am sure "almighty" hurd is pissed he missed his chance to diarrhea on this one...

GO CENTRAL!!!   :u: :u: :u: :u: :u: :u:

Not all that it is cracked up to be, trust me...there are many more issues that you have to deal with over at Central that don't get publicized openly

being at the Central-Bakersfield playoff game and seeing the crowd (for Central) I gathered that the coach deals with other issuses...

Love TheFN Game You question my facts????? I see you have a lot of items listed and what you listed was in the process before CQ came into town. So thats not backing the coach, thats bettering the program. And giving the kids something so they can't have excuses that CUSD has everything. Hell I would be loured to go there too. I think he would still be there but, name one time the principle stayed for the whole game or supported any coaches needs when it comes to "ON CAMPUS" coaches. Backing any coaches on disciplinary problems. Now you sound like you are a part of Central maybe a coach in a different sport or something. So, you know CQ left that program better than he got there. If the AD is uncomfortable standing up for the coaches then we can speculate on the why's CQ had to leave there. The shared title you talk about is pretty good with that young of a team. As hard as it is to win the TRAC, dealing with the day to day problems that other schools may not have, I don't know how he did it. Now as far as him possibly being considered for a coaching position at Buchanan, it might be a good fit for him. The kids in CUSD may not be as athletic but as we have seen for many years, the kids have big hearts. They also believe they can't be beat. They don't get a lot of schollies but they get there fair share of CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Flamingo,  just a quick reply to your last post.  True some of the amenities of the Central football program were in the works when Quinn arrived, but, he was given more free reign over the facilities than any other coach in the district (stadium use and access to the weight facilities). Believe me when I say this, Casey and Central football got what they wanted for most of Quinn's stay with the Grizzlies.  It's true Casey did not have a ton of on staff coaches, but he did not bring a lot of coaches to Central that had college degrees or teaching credentials either. At one time in his tenure, both his OC/DC were not credential teachers. You go back and think of all the people who made up Quinn's staff in his tenure there, a ton of them were walk-on type people who were not employed as certificated people in the educational field. As far as the principal attending or staying at games, the guy comes late and leaves early to almost all school athletic events.  Wether he cared or dis-liked Casey is a debatable issue (not privy to that information).  If it was the latter (disliked) it probably had more to do with the litany of behavioral issues (of football players) that became a consistent stream in the discipline department.  I can assure you that the separation between Casey and CUSD was not made by the site administration (principal).  The reason for the divorce, came from higher up and I believe both sides agreed mutually that separating was in the best interest for all parties concerned.

One poster stated that if all I posted about the Cntral job were true, then it would be one of the best football jobs in the valley.  That's because it is!  You want facilities and access to them (come to Central), you want a great teaching schedule (come to Central), you want talented athletes (come to Central), you want to deal with the headaches of the clientele (come to Central)!

Casey Quinn will surface somewhere else as the head man, because he's qualified to do  the job.  Probably the most qualified available candidate in the area.

FENIX

Stadium use was always an issue, practice facility is amongst worst in the valley.  Discipline issues were for the most part the best they had ever been, (ask some of the teachers!).  Of those coordinators one of them is in the process of receiving a credential, and the other currently holds multiple credentials.  I would be willing to bet Quinn is a better coach and even more marketable after leaving Central.  My guess is Quinn will be a head coach of a prominent program here or elsewhere soon, or is a position (WR) coach at a D1 college in 5 years.

My post about Central being the best job was not meant to be sarcastic. I was simply stating that if all that you listed was in fact the case, I say this because I have no first hand knowledge that it is or is not), it sounds like the best job around. I can assure you there is no job in the KHSD even remotely close to this list!
