Inze, why don't you start one? like a blog type. Im being serious! I am just as guilty as the next person of loosing focus at times of what e=really matters in HS football.  Hey if you really want to I'm sure a few of us on here can help out with different players from around the valley and we can all come together and do something along these lines for the Central section. Im sure it would get a very positive response. Just think if you wanna see something like this how many other people are thinking the same thing? You have given me an idea!! send me your email on here and i'll run it by you.

Might be easier to just have a Most Inspirational topic on this site, where coaches can share stories and photos of their candidates.  I think that would be awesome for the kids, and uplifting for the readers.

I shot you my email.  Whatever you do, don't give it to Teddy.  I had to get a restraining order against him.

Who selects the All Valley teams now?  Or has that been abandoned too?
I don't think there is an official "All-Valley" team (other than, potentially, Nick Papagni's annual selections). The Bee only does an "All-Circulation Area" team.

Is that a recent change?  I know some guys who played in the last several years who have All Valley patches.  Who distributed those?

Soaring Eagle

Trevor received an "All Valley" Patch, in 2011, when he was chosen as a Fresno Bee All Star.

That year there were 32 players on the list (Offense, Defense & Special Teams).  Not much room for duplicate positions being All Stars.
One needs very good eyes if you are going to soar high above your prey!

In my research, the Bee has never claimed their All-Star team was an "All-Valley" team except in the years I mentioned previously. For a while, in fact, I think they included a disclaimer with their team (something along the lines of, "This team is made up of the best players in the Bee's coverage area", which is north of Delano-Chowchilla I believe).

The "All-Valley" patches/recognition are given out by coaches/administrators who are either overzealous in trying to bring recognition to their program or who refuse to take the time to learn what the All-Star team is actually about.

On the other hand, "All-Fresno Bee Coverage Area" is possibly the most cumbersome statement to put on a patch. Some might simplify that as "All-Valley", as it does cover most of the teams in the Central Section, but I don't feel that is adequate to describe the reality.

Regardless, it's a pretty cool patch to have, right below All Conference.
