Central. They always seem to play very well before league play starts.

So, I see Redwood defeated Central for the "championship" of this tourney.  Redwood went undefeated for the win. Was this really a tourney, or did they just match Central with the best team and call it the "championship"?  I read the tourney rules and although I don't claim to be an expert it seems as though an undefeated Hanford team(with 2 ties at the tournament rules dictated 7 inning limit) and a head to head win over a one loss Central should have played the "championship".  Shouldn't this be called a "showcase" if you are gonna make up rules and matchups as you go? Just asking.  I was kind of looking forward to a Hanford-Redwood WYL preview to go along with the TRAC preview I watched at the Coke tourney last week.

Speak on it my brother, I thought I was the only one scratching my head. It's too bad that a team that had such a great tourney, didn't get a shot at playing for the championship.

According to max preps Hanford lost to Madera High and tied Madera South. That would put them behind a one loss team.

Hanford-Madera were tied after 7.  Madera coach wanted to keep playing even though tourney rules were all games final after 7.  Hanford coach said wth, we already got the tie so why not?  Madera wins in 8 and all of a sudden the rules change?  Idk, I just thought it looked fishy like the kind of stuff that happens in a ghetto travel ball tourney.  Maybe I missed an addendum to the rules or something but Papagni had em posted forever and I don't remember a change.

Grey Goose did you watch any games?  How do you think a Hanford vs Redwood final would have turned out?  Seems like both teams are playing pretty good to start the season.

I saw several games.  It's really tough to get a gauge on how good a team is during a tourney.  I mean, Redwood put up a bunch of runs vs Central and Kerman, but it's not like they did it vs Eastman or Kermans #1 guy.  They look they can swing it though and are probably kicking themselves for getting out of the Coke tourney this year.

Hanford is always gonna come to play.  They generally swing the bats well.  They looked like they are at least 3-4 deep with arms this year which is a luxury they havnt had recently.  I think they had 3 different pitchers throw shutouts in the Central tourney.

To answer your question........all I'm gonna say is a Hanford-Redwood final would have been worth the price of admission.
