It is hard for me to see that with Carr coming in at BCHS and Wasco being very young last year. Both JV squads were great

you do realize that Carr will not be suiting up, nor will his brother?

hardhitter23

Yeah of course but I am taking into count of many other things the Carr's are able to do or bring in I should say and their JV team won the SSL last year right?

what things are the Carrs able to do or bring that will make a difference? What will they do that the previous coach didn't do? A coach that got them into a State Bowl game. What can the Carrs do that will make those soft kids, that went home crying to their mommies and daddies that the mean ol' coach that held them accountable, to be tough enough to beat the kids in Wasco and Delano that grind it out in the weight room and aren't spoiled?

I know the league pretty darn well.  Here is how I see it.

1. Chavez (they return a good defense)
2. BCHS (any less than this is a disapointment)
3. Wasco (they do what they do)
4. Kennedy (I think coach has a good thing going there)
5. Arvin (Coach Mares does a good job with his team, stay healthy they win)
6. Shafter (I hope coach Ishida can get things going in my alma mater)
7. Taft (this is the big dark horse.  new coach, no-one knows what he is going to bring)

To answer all of your questions, any success that the Carrs bring to BCHS had already been founded, and was well established.

TeddyKGB

I agree Flex, I think Carr is going to learn that the kids at BCHS aren't the same as the kids at BHS and it won't matter who's on the staff you can't change the way a kid's been raised like for 16 years in 5 months.

Well what's the answer hard?

1. Chavez – Best Defense arguably in the Valley returns along with some studs coming up from JV squad. Should contend for Valley and a state playoff spot
2.. BCHS – Ready to bounce back from last year
3. Wasco – Solid squad returning
4. Kennedy – Last years D6 champs should make some noise at the top of the league
5. Shafter – Sleeper pick, should scare the daylights out of some teams when they show up
6. Arvin – This is actually a decent to sometimes really good squad. Hope all the pieces fall their way this year
7. Taft – All new everything so only time will tell

Playoffs??? Playoffs??? We're just trying to win a game...."

HAHAHA...better than Liberty, Bakersfield, Clovis North and Edison? I would argue that no Chavez doesnt have the best D in the entire valley

Now, now Teddy, be nice, at least wait until he gets a few more post in, he's a rookie.
I had Liberty winning a valley title when I was posting.

TeddyKGB

you're right Flex...I remember back in '07 when izne thought CW lead by Marty would defeat the Drillers lead by the Mighty Pete Mitchell!

You're comparing D1 squads but it's cool. Apparently you must not have seen them play. That D was legit and returns a bunch of starters. I may not post alot but Im well aware of who is in the valley.

your words: "Chavez – Best Defense arguably in the Valley returns along with some studs coming up from JV squad. Should contend for Valley and a state playoff spot"

I can't see anything about a specific division, I didn't have to see them play to know that your statement about best D in the valley is far fetched. Being good, even the best, in D 3 or 4, whatever Chavez plays in and being the best in the Valley is a huge difference. I would think that some one that is "well aware of who iss in the Valley" would understand that. Also, someone as "aware" as you should know that those jv "studs" don't always translate to varsity studs. Now, my point isn't to discredit Chavez, they have made great strides under the new coach, and it shows that the right guy can turn things around, what I questioned was your overzealous comment to proclaim that the D may be the best in the valley.

Sonny Crockett

1. Chavez-Solid defense, GREAT coaching
2. BCHS- Not sold on Darren Carr's complete success without top notch athletes at every spot
3. Kennedy-Solid coaching staff
4. Taft-Some pretty good athletes; coaching staff is a huge question
5. Wasco- Not going to be very good, see playoff game VS North High
6. Shafter-Unfortunately still not as good as Wasco.
7. Arvin-Only serviceable athlete was the graduating QB
