so why did clovis west pass on him?

i dont think that CW passed on him......i dont think they can "pass" on anyone if there is no compelling reason.

Its probably more that he passed on them.....just my opinion

DEE

Buchanan (parents) have been after Cropper since last year...

CW didn't pass.  They were never in the running, and after their last 2 disastrous seasons I can see why lol.  Him and Milton @ Buchanan make them an early season favorite to win it all.

Always funny to see comments like " They passed" or they were in the "running". Its High School football and it seems in todays era this is a new aspect of the game i guess. I understand some think that it will improve their chance at getting recruited but jumping ship to another program to form a superstar team is gonna teach them a great life lesson. Just my two cents

I am surprised this hasn't created more of an outcry.  If it were Tompkins transferring to Buchanan would everyone else have been so OK about it?  I get that these things happen nowadays but the fact that nobody sees anything wrong with it is also troubling.  Big name kids/parents transferring to the flavor of the week, sad!

Interestingly many college coaches frown on kids transferring unless it's for legitimate reasons. To transfer to greener pastures is frowned on by most big time college coaches. This is especially true when it is a high profile athlete that has and will continue to receive offers no matter which school he plays at. Most college coaches know when a transfer isn't necessary. Makes me smile when I know kids that earn something special have been together all through high school.

We'll get to play against Cropper no matter if he is at Buchanan or Sanger though I was most excited about the Sanger game primarily because both communities Paso Robles / Sanger are very similar in size, both one high school communities and both have a proud history of football tradition .... Those make for the most exciting games  ....

if you can play... alabama doesnt care what schools you transferred to...or how many times... or sc, nd, ohio st, texas, miami, georgia, lsu........

Agree.

Same with IMG Academy. Those kids transfer in from everywhere, some do it as they are entering their senior year......and all those kids sign with D1 schools.

You might wish to check your sources ..... A few schools you mention have head coaches that frown on recruiting/high profile transfers at the high school level.

IMG will soon be banned from playing high schools in Texas, Louisiana and California in the sport of football.

I have a very very good relationship with the HC from both LSU and SC, and I can tell you, they dont care if you transfer schools, that wont stop them from recruiting a kid

I'll name two  .... Baylor and Texas frown on recruiting/high profile transfers at the high school level.

Lets agree to simply disagree. You believe recruiting/high profile transfers are OK  ... I don't. I believe the current environment/rules have taken away from the best experience for the majority of young men, you know the ones that play for community/school pride and will never get a D1 offer. Sure there are a small percentage of players that benefit form the loose rules but loading up super teams does a huge dis-service to the vast majority of schools  .... when a championship is known before the first game of the season something is wrong.

then baylor and texas will continue to get the guys who continue to not win even conference titles.

Tom Herman definitely took anyone he could while at houston so now if he acting bougey at texas he will soon be let go.  The baylor coach most def need to get who he can... or he will be coaching at fresno st soon.
now you can 'frown' on... yea they might not like it... but if they will NOT turn away a 5 star player just because he transferred schools a few times.

Agreed  ..... frown doesn't = turn away

Lets get to the bottom line: Lets agree to simply disagree. You believe recruiting/high profile transfers are OK  ... I don't. I believe the current environment/rules have taken away from the best experience for the majority of young men, you know the ones that play for community/school pride/camaraderie and will never get a D1 offer. Sure there are a small percentage of players that benefit from the new loose rules but loading up super teams does a huge dis-service to the vast majority of schools  .... when a championship is known before the first game of the season is even played something is very wrong IMO.

And it's OK to disagree ... like our founding fathers believed it should be.

I think the better way of thinking about it is, if a coach frowns upon it, he will go with another guy if there is a equal opportunity available.  But if there isn't, no coach is going to turn down a 5 star over, where he played or how many times he transferred.  Stuff like that only comes into play, when there is are two athletes for one spot.

So I guess it comes down to, is Cropper a 5 Star and if so, how many other 5 Stars in the same position are vying for the same spot on the college team?
