Huge upset!

Big upset down south tonight.  State number 1 ranked Rancho Bernardo loses in the playoffs 5-4.  Clovis High baseball is currently number 2.  Gotta think they will move up and finish the season ranked number 1.

The San Diego Section has a double elimination playoff format. So they can still win their section. They play Carlsbad, who is the 5 seed in the SDS Open Division, tomorrow. Cal Hi Sports has said that if they lose one game & still win the section they could still finish #1. It will be interesting to see. I would love to see a double elimination format here in the Central Section. I think it's a better format than single elimination & it shows who the better team is. Clovis was the best team all year long in the  Valley but there have been years where our format hasn't shown that. I just don't see the guys in Porterville making that change.

That's what Cal Hi said but I don't think that included a lost to a then 8-20 team.  If they would've lost to a quality I could then see some justification in the two losses, but since the team they lost is medicare I would think they have to put Clovis in front.

Rancho Bernardo lost again today.  Should seal the deal for the Cougars.

it no State champs earned  it    in California  until CIF  planning  8 Team State playoff

Glen is correct, but the State playoff system for baseball should be in place within 2 years. The Aaseball Advisory committee did discuss the 2 of 3 games format for section championships, but it was set aside because of the state playoffs that are coming.
