Don't you just love that the GOP spends the better part of 8 years thoroughly trashing Obamacare and now that they have a Grand Old Opportunity to do something about it, they can't come up with a better idea? WOW!!

I guess Obamacare isn't as bad as they thought it was....??

They have a number of better plans, the RINOS in the party just can't quit stepping on their wankers and be honest that Obama care is mostly made up of welfare and then have the balls to just end it.  They are as much a part of the swamp as many of the dems.  Have said from day one that the rino  Repubs would be Trumps biggest problem....

I think it's as bad as they thought it was..., even the democrats are acknowledging that it needs to be fixed.  The fundamental problem is that once you give someone something, it becomes the new norm and you cannot just take it back.

Obamacare itself is a disaster, and will eventually be fixed.  But Obama's legacy will be that he moved the needle and set a new norm relative to entitlements.

Trump gave them their head, just wait and see.

What kills me we are free to buy any other kind of insurance i.e. Fire , homeowner , auto etc. and you are required to buy auto.  The damn government needs to get the regulations out of the way and let the market take care of itself.
Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.

If the market had taken care of itself we wouldn't be dealing with this mess......

You say we are free to buy fire, homeowner, auto, etc. but we are NOT free to opt out.....we are REQUIRED by law to have these insurance policies......

you are not required to have a fire or homeowners policy... your lender may require it, but it is not a law .... additionally, it is possible to opt out of auto insurance in California if you are willing to put up a $35,000 deposit or bond with the state.

Stand corrected there diesel?

Heck the majority of insurers in those categories all sell across state lines too!

The market is working for them!

.. auto, etc. but we are NOT free to opt out.....

Also, there is an entirely different market dynamic with auto coverage... you are not required to protect yourself.. you are required to protect ME... the OTHER driver .. you are totally free to not cover the repairs on your car.. but not mine...  this is 180 degrees away from the medical insurance requirement... to have a similar (but disgusting) analogy, if I had the flu, sneezed in my hand, shook your hand and YOU then caught my illness.. THEN I would have to have insurance to pay your medical bills.

Ok, not law......but how many of us have the kind of $$$ on hand to "opt out"?? Whether it's a "law" or not, pretty much everyone has it because we're forced to have it......by our lenders, who are legally allowed to require it. And auto insurance IS a law. When you put up that $35k bond, your are technically "self-insured" which means you are taking on the role and responsibility of an insurance company for yourself.

What I find interesting is that we seem perfectly fine requiring car insurance (because it protects YOU from ME, I guess?) but you're up in arms that everyone should be required to have health insurance.....you still have choice......which health insurance company you ultimately go with is still up to you......

No... I'm not...TRUST me.... EVERYONE should buy a LOT of insurance... and I know just the broker.   What I oppose is the Feds inserting themselves into the premium and distribution part of the equation while nearly completely refusing to deal with the medical & pharmaceutical expense side of equation... they set up a system out of equilibrium and then can't figure out why the F it isn't working.

And it wouldn't matter what Trump reforms came down at the Fed level, California effectively had almost all the aspects of the ACA in place well before the Feds.. which is why the California carriers were able to price more effectively than the rest of the country... our rate increases have lagged the nation as a whole.

It boils down to the gooberment taking OUT the very things that make insurance work in the first place, i.e. removing adverse selection restraints.  Insurance does not work without these limitations, or at least not within price points that the restraints are designed to keep in check.

Agree 100% on what these ass-clown politicians are doing with "health care reform"...it's all pointless because they refuse to address the fundamental underlying problem, the cost of care.  Premiums cannot come down while costs are through the roof.  Without significant reform in the areas of malpractice exposure, pharmaceuticals, mandates on providers, etc. no cost containment will be realized.  They are going at this stuff ass backwards.

I oppose federally mandated health insurance for as long as I have to pay for - not only my own - but also for the multi-generational welfare societies part of the "program" !!!

I know - just like they buy groceries & don't have to pay but I do !?! Just like they receive free legal help but I have to pay for ( 4 them & me !?!) - just like they get generation after generation after generation  of entitlement  BUT we ALL have to pay for it !???! If we want to fix anything in this country (& balance the budget while we're up to it) lets put an END to multi generational welfare !! It has become a way of life for an entire segment of this countries society which enslaves them to "big government" that the shrinking tax payers have to ante up to continue to keep in existence  - both the multi generational welfare society & the big government !??!

I agree with you on all these points, but the answer isn't going to come from continuing to allow the money to flow UP into corporate pockets......the amount of corporate welfare is STAGGERING in comparison to the money you're complaining about......
