Clovis & Centennial 2-2 going into the 8th. Clovis North beats Frontier 4-0. Buchanan & Stockdale both won.
2  Other Sports Forums / College and Pros / Re: BC stripped of state title on: May 16, 2013, 09:34:36 PM
I have nothing but respect for the players at Penn State who stayed because of situations like these. Student athletes did absolutely nothing wrong. It was all the sins of a bunch of old men. That's why I love guys like Christian Hackenberg & Tyler Ferguson who could've went anywhere they wanted but chose to stay at State College. That's unfair.

Sixtynine is definitely the biggest idiot on this board now.
4  Central Section Sports / Softball / Re: D1 Seedings on: May 16, 2013, 08:15:07 PM
OK we can now say that Clovis was seeded way to low.
5  Other Sports Forums / College and Pros / Re: BC stripped of state title on: May 16, 2013, 06:40:51 PM
You can call it whining Teddy. You do not speak for all BC fans/supporters. It is what it is. I speak my opinion on the matter. I just think it looks much worse than it is. I do not think whatever it is they broke fits the punishment. Willing to bet there are far worse activities happening in JC.  Forget USC and all the 4 year colleges. We know how corrupt that is. All I am saying is this... 8 players Teddy. I could go so far as to say they did not need these 8 players to win this state championship. How many Drillers? How many Rams? How many GHawks were making plays?

You obviously didn't football at BHS or Clovis West. One player screws up during practice EVERYONE pays the consequences. USC, Ohio State, UNC & Miami all were punished because of the stupidity of a few. Is it fair? No. Is life fair? No. Suck it up & move on.

James Harrison is a moron so this doesn't shock me at all.
7  Central Section Sports / Baseball / Re: D1 Predictions on: May 16, 2013, 06:32:11 PM
Let's see those D1 picks for tomorrow.

Liberty @ Buchanan
Bullard @ Stockdale
Centennial @ Clovis
Frontier @ Clovis North

I'm taking the chalk picks here. I think the higher seeds are better and should win. So Buchanan beats liberty by a handful. Stockdale beats Bullard in a slugfest. Clovis beats Centennial in a close one and Clovis North's pitching shuts down Frontier. Possible upset would be Bullard @ Stockdale just because Bullard is swingin it pretty well right now and could hit a couple out.

I'm sticking with my original Final 4. Buchanan, Stockdale, Clovis & Clovis North all win. Clovis beats Clovis North. Buchanan beats Stockdale. Clovis beats Buchanan.
8  Central Section Sports / Baseball / Re: D1 Predictions on: May 16, 2013, 06:21:14 PM
Actually, Stockdale's field is just as big as Clovis East, West or Buchanan, with a 10 foot fence and the wind blows in. It gives up the fewest Hr's.  That reputation is from Centennial & Frontier, which both have short fences but the wind blows straight out to center at about 20mph, which makes ordinary fly balls home runs.

I definitely know about Centennial's field from the 2007 championship game & a double header  we played against the Golden Hawks.

2007, as much as I'd like to comment on what my opinion of the CW issues this season I'll keep it off this forum.  Shoot me a PM anytime if you like.
Send me a PM of what you think the issues were.

11  Central Section Sports / Baseball / Re: D1 Scores on: May 16, 2013, 12:20:35 AM
Offense hasn't been clicking the last few games, but it was pretty good for a lot of the season so your assessment isn't correct, as usual.

Sixty, some of both.  With the help of a bad ump (most are, so nothing new) we made a decent Frontier pitcher look like Verlander today.
So wise JAFO please tell me what plagued Clovis West years? I can't recall how many times they would get multiple runners on base & not advance them. Everyone knows how piss poor their defense was. Enlighten us what you think the issues have been.
12  Central Section Sports / Baseball / Re: D1 Scores on: May 16, 2013, 12:19:39 AM
They got beat! Period! The ump had nothing to do with it. Terrible at bats! Looking at strike 3 on several occasions. Even to end the game.
Runners at first and second with no outs and CW does not bunt them over in a 2-0 game!!?? Are you kidding me?
CF does not back up and over throw and the runner scores? Runners picked off at first turning the wrong way!? Too many players on the field  with no production who stayed on the field ALL SEASON.

Did I say anything about the umpires?
13  Central Section Sports / Baseball / Re: D1 Scores on: May 15, 2013, 07:08:03 PM
Worse Clovis West team since the 2003 team that lost to McLane in the first round of the playoffs. No offense what so ever.
14  Central Section Sports / Softball / Re: D1 Seedings on: May 15, 2013, 11:57:31 AM
settled?

Not really. It was the first round & they were playing a 9 seed. If they beat El D then it is settled.
15  Central Section Sports / Baseball / Re: D1 Predictions on: May 13, 2013, 01:30:05 PM
2007, Looks like you've given up all hope for a miracle CW run
I'm just being realistic. I think their defense will be what does them in against Clovis North, if they beat Frontier first.
16  Everything Else / Off Topic / Re: Pretty Cool on: May 13, 2013, 12:23:42 PM
I hate the Dodgers but I've always been a huge Matt Kemp fan. This just made an even bigger fan of his.
17  Central Section Sports / Softball / Re: D1 Seedings on: May 13, 2013, 12:22:15 PM
I agree the four losses in a row definitely hurt Clovis. If Bullard was in the TRAC they might have won it. They played pretty well against all the TRAC schools & as someone said earlier they didn't play two games against Clovis East. I still don't see how Central could be ahead of Clovis when the Cougars were in position to win the league.
18  Central Section Sports / Baseball / Re: Buchanan won on: May 13, 2013, 12:18:24 PM
That's interesting that the two coaches argued as the best (and I don't disagree) are the only two who don't have "dads" involved in their coaching programs Frosh-Varsity. ...... Both CW and CN are loaded with them.

Is it possible that Donald and James Patrick do things their way with no parental influence and thus achieve better results? Or at least that's one of the reasons they do?

I'm not really sure how true this is but I am not a fan of parents coaching at the lower levels, especially when their kids play on those teams.
19  Central Section Sports / Baseball / Re: D1 Predictions on: May 13, 2013, 12:17:06 PM

20  Central Section Football / Varsity Discussion / Re: Why is Buchanan? on: May 13, 2013, 12:14:02 PM
I wasn't saying they are a slouch athletic program in general. I was impressed all the times Centennial played them in football. In 2009 they won a mythical National Championship as they called it. http://www.clipsyndicate.com/video/play/2501920/buchanan_wins_valley_mythical_national_championship/

I guess it all comes down to coaching. I guess certain high school programs depending on the coach are powerhouse programs. Buchanan High Baseball, Bakersfield High Football, Hanford Girls Basketball, Clovis High Wrestling, Clovis West Girls Volleyball & Swimming, etc. Do kids follow the coaches? It begs the question if your kid is a star baseball player in the Clovis district, do you move him to Buchanan high school? Is this happening? Or any other sport? It happens here with Driller football.

That was 2011 actually.
