That article is a joke!

Why don't they do a little more investigating to find out how our section operates and what a joke it is!

That guy has plenty of beef with what this section and our commissioner has done to his teams.  Our commissioner has kept them from probably winning at least 1 state title if not more!

I noticed that they left the part out about him being tired of dealing with the CIF's efforts to create competitive equity that was in the original Bee article.

This could have been avoided if Chrichlow would have simply called and asked if Hanford wanted to continlue in the playoffs. He could have called the AD and been told one way or another. Once again...another way to make the Hanford High Girls Basketball Program  take a hit..
I understand why Tom is mad...so am I. Continuing to move them up in divisions...putting them at a disadvantage in the state playoffs...disrespecting them in the seedings the past 2 years...not calling to ask... Tom has EVERY RIGHT to be MAD.
His players became good because of the time and effort put in...case closed.

Im not saying Parrish handled this situation perfect, but youre correct... Crichlow should have clarified with Hanford's principal or AD before omitting them all together.  This is simply another jab at Parrish, because he has been vocal about the Central Section's joke of "equality" Divisional placement.  Ultimately is a shame for the girls, but I think Crithclow is as much to blame as Parrish.

Doesnt matter who is to blame.  Kids arent playing because coach got mad.

Does he have a beef...yes.  Did the team deserve this, absolutley not.

That being said, if he just did his job the girls would still be playing.  I get mad every day at my job.
If i spout off like this at work, i lose my job and my kids dont eat.  He spouted off and his kids dont play.

Dont make excuses ....he shouldnt have said anything.

So OCVF, do you think Crichlow followed proper protocol...?   Does the head coach have the authority to say a team will not compete in the playoffs?  I havent seen an excuse for the coach... Merely that the GIRLS deserved Crichlows support too...

Look on the bright side !! For the next 50+ years those girls can say "We could have won the State title if not for our stupid coach" ---and no one can prove differently !

Thats a good question RoadDawg.  I dont honestly know what protocol is in this situation.  From my knowledge of Crichlow, he is a very good man, who either takes the path of least resistance, or takes the path of political expediency.  In this case, Crichlow had nothing to gain by NOT putting forth the proper effort, as HANFORD success measures into CRICHLOW success.

The reason i take the stance i did is...If the coach doesnt regularly and in this case VOCALLY and PUBLICLY in a very well watched scenario, SOUND OFF EMOTIONALLY, the girls are playing tonight.   AT HOME....IN DI(not the Open Division, so in effect, playing a step down, figure the irony)  and possibly MAKING HISTORY and PROVING A POINT.

Everything else that happened after that is a function of HIS actions.  In science, and in life, that means the coach was the Initiator, the Catalyst, and the variable that put the Potential Energy and turned it into Kinetic Energy.  Without  that, none of this happens.

Reminds me of a situation a few years ago with the new Clovis Football coach.  For some reason, the coach didnt recommend any kids to play in the City/County game.   He took so much heat from the Clovis faithful and the press, the story that came out was THEY NEVER CALLED me, blah blah blah.  Same as in this situation, the response from the coach and the school was to TRANSFER BLAME to someone or some organization that cannot or will not and has no reason, to fight the allegations whatsoever.

Therefore, since everything that happened after the COach's tirade is 'subjective' and 'what if', the blame or the fault, or the responsibility of the situation lies solely on the coaches shoulders.  Everything else is supposition and damage control and responsibility transfer.   However, that is the society we live in, so that is why so many do it.

I am with you. You can make your point without saying your team won't play. My Bullpups have been getting the short end of the stick. But shut everybody up with your play on the court. Not with your mouth in the media. I am sure he feels bad about popping off and now his girls are not able to carry on.

I understand perfectly where Coach Parrish was coming from. Hanford was ranked much higher than either Clovis West and Stockdale in state rankings. Why did the CIF decide to do what they did? Those Bulldog teams of recent years deserved just as much of a chance to compete for a State Championship as those teams that got the opportunity.
In my opinion, Hanford was the last team of those who dominated the section finals the previous decade. They (the Committee) wanted to open the experience up to more teams. Hanford's  crime was being too successful for their own good.
Another thing that gets lost in this discussion is that the CIF has never taken more than one Central Section team in D-1, (except last year where Stockdale was given a play-in game). Coach might have had it in the back of his head that it was a foolish question to be asking right after his team was eliminated.

I respectfully disagree...  I honestly dont think Crichlow cares how the Central Section teams do in the state playoffs, or he wouldnt support a screwy Divisional placement, which has most likely cost Hanford and the Central Section another D3 state championship.

Im not defending Parrish's post game remarks, my issue is that I dont think a head coach is the final authority in stating whether a school will play in the playoffs, plus I think if Crichlow really cared about the kids, he would have confirmed with the school's principal or AD before omitting a deserving team.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Well, best of luck to coach Parrish in the future. What he did with that program is amazing. A blueprint for success. Selma is figuring it out, it starts at the youth level. Too bad that our section puts our teams at such a disadvantage for statewide competition. Hey Tom, how about coming to Kingsburg!

Well its like the old saying goes......"it takes two". First off,yes Hanford was ranked higher than Stockdale and CW. But that just goes to show you how the state rankings are(hand pick ranking teams). And the CIF did get it right...this time by putting them over hanford. Come on they had a better record and beat them in the season. And obviously they were right by putting CW ahead to( because if you didn't notice CW beat Hanford). But the coach shouldnt have cried in public about losing and the comish shouldve atleast called and said "you sure you dnt wanna come out and play"

They have hired a new coach but are taking their sweet time in announcing it.  By the time he gets the girls into the gym to learn the new system, the district will have done what they have always wanted, evened the playing field among all 3 high schools.  The girls have asked for someone to open the gym up for them until a new coach was hired during the spring and not once has it happened.  They aren't allowed to go play at other schools open gym because the school district says it could result in recruiting of players.  In the end, I wish the new coach and all returning Bullpups players the very best and hope they win another WYL title.
