Don't believe this is a good idea AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two years in a row you have a Clovis and Buchanan Final and they have to drive to Visalia to play?  My thoughts are that if you earned a #1 seed then you have earned the right to play in front of your fans.

If Varsity Coaches voted on this and want to do this then who cares what anyone else thinks.  If CIF decided this on their own then they are way off on this one.

"Another very successful couple of days," Visalia Rawhide general manager Jennifer Pendergraft said. "All teams' fans traveled well and we heard nothing but compliments about the facility and atmosphere for the games. The CIF staff is great to work with, and we continue to take notes on the little things that will make the experience better the following year. This year, we had a couple teams traveling from the outlying locations of the section, and they stayed the night in Visalia before their games, so that added some nice economic impact for the city. Seemed to be another win-win event."

Crichlow noted that year two ran a lot smoother than last season's pilot run. In order to make things smoother for all parties involved — coaches, players, Rawhide staff and media — losing teams departed through the third-base side and the winners exited through center field, where Rawhide officials provided a tented area for media interviews and teams to celebrate their on-field accomplishments with family and friends.

Hydash, who wrapped up his second year as the Ranger skipper, hopes the championships stay at Rec Park beyond 2016.

"If we would have hosted the championship games at home, we probably would have had a lot of people there, but not as much as on Friday," Hydash said. "Having a venue that's a neutral and nice facility, you're going to draw people that wouldn't come to a game. Hopefully, they continue to do it. It's great for baseball. It's great for the community and it's great for the kids."

this what Pagmeter  say yesterday     i total agree  with  him

Glenn,

I see your point but still do not agree.  I think the coaches should have more say over this then anyone else.  If the Majority of coaches would rather play on a neutral field then they should continue it.  If not, then they should change it.  My concern is if coaches even have a say in all of this.

Well, the attendance from going to one site at Rawhide stadium is *way up* across the board.  And the nature of baseball is that being the home team at a neutral site has a built-in advantage compared to other sports.  I simply don't see a drawback to having it at Rawhide.

How is being the home team at a neutral site more of an advantage than being at home? Please explain that to me.

Not *more* an advantage; my statement was badly worded.  What I meant was that being a home team (even at a neutral site) has a built-in advantage in baseball due to batting last each inning that does not exist in other sports.  So being the higher seed still has an advantage even though you aren't on "your own field".

Plusses/minuses:

+location mid-valley
+venue
+attendance and hence $$$ to schools and CIF
+atmosphere
-location (only if both schools are north or both south)
-"You aren't on your own field"

Lets just face the facts. Nobody from the TRAC wants to go play in Visalia. Not the players, fans, coaches. IT was fine playing here in our own facilities.

Valley Championships have been fine in the past at the higher seeds stadiums.

and TBH, if California had a state championship for baseball it would be a huge draw and there would be more scouts at it than whatever there is in Georgia.
Just my opinion, but my opinion is right

I love how teams can't even hit BP at the stadium they play in. Have to walk across the street and then walk back. Lol. What a crock.

This might come as a surprise to some, but the world does not revolve around Clovis.  There are 5 other divisions.  Rawhide is the best fit considering for all six.

CWClassof2007

How much of the money goes to the schools? Do they clear out the stadium after each game?

The typical payout is 40% CIF, 30% to each school.  For baseball, yes they do clear it out.  From what I've heard, payouts were much higher at Rawhide for all involved.

I can't speak for anything but D1, but if that game was played in Clovis (as it should be), there would have been a bigger crowd.
Just my opinion, but my opinion is right

Yeah....I'm going to have to sort of disagree with you there...yeah...in terms of Division I baseball...it sort of does...revolve around Clovis

I never said it did. Have your other 5 divisions play in Visalia. You guys can empty and reload the stadium every inning if you want. Enjoy the drive down scenic 99 ...... But the D1 can stay at home in OUR venues and have the good old packed atmosphere we always have had.

How about something like the Southern Section does, use two sites. Do one in Fresno, Visalia or Bakersfield. The other site would be one of the other two cities. Three divisions play at one, three at the other. It could rotate between the three cities so travel might be less. Where you play is determined by the higher seed in your division. Example:
2015
D-1 in Fresno (1-Buchanan vs. Clovis)
D-2 Fresno ( 1 Redwood vs. Hanford)
D-3 Bakersfield (2  Ridgeview vs. Garces)
D-4 Bakersfield (2 Golden Valley vs Firebaugh)
D-5 Bakersfield (1 Cesar Chavez vs. CVC)
D-6 Fresno (1 Farmersville vs. McFarland)

All games finished in one day. Not perfect, but it might settle some people down a bit.
