I can recall the Home side of Ratcliffe Stadium being packed to capacity when CW played South High in the VC Championship game back in 95 I believe it was. The 2008 BHS-CW at the Vet was a packed house. I really like LaMonica, the Stands are right up on the grass no track, seats goal line to goal line.
Although none compare to Griffith in December.

That South vs C-Dub VC game was played at Lamonica  (94) _ I remember 'cuz Rodney Wright left all his gear in my Cougar locker room & I sent it back to South - Rodney(a soph) did not need it "cuz he transferred to BHS  :D after that game . I believe that you are thinking of the 95 BHS vs C-Dub  '95 CIF Championship game - I was there too - it was Awesome !!!   :u:

Sanger is The Best HS FB town in the Valley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  There should not even be a discussion on this.  I have watched games in Sanger, watched Sanger play in Fresno, and watched Sanger play out of the Fresno area.  It does not matter where they go, they ALWAYS outnumber the home crowd!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It is embarrassing when they play in Fresno and their side is filled while the FUSD side has less than a quarter of the stadium full.

Sanger is not a school that I root for but man they are a FOOTBALL TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It'd be interesting to see if Sanger would be an almost unanimous pick as the best valley football town if a second high school were present.

But there isn't a 2nd HS - just like Kingsburg / Dinuba / Fowler / Dos Palos / etc . "IF" there was only one High School in Clovis (Clovis High) they would be  not only be the best "Football town" but also the best Football Program  :D - if is a VERY big word .

Sanger will have a second high school built within the next few years. However they are following Centrals model and they will both feed in to one program for sports. Sanger will no doubt be bumped up to Divison I at that point and have to earn thier place at the table.

laidback- I went to a few Yosemite games last year.  I was impressed with the crowd size despite their record.  But it is the only thing going on a Friday night in Oakhurst.

That may be so, but there just is not the whole town excitement thing anymore. Banners hanging everywhere, food discounts for team players, etc. When my son was playing, varsity parents had a big thursday night dinner for the varsity team. I'm not sure if they do that anymore. The time I hosted it I spoke with the then owner of Me and Ed's pizza & he said I could have extra large pizzas with multiple toppings for $10.00 ea & the drinks were free. No one will do that anymore. The sizzle has just gone. I am glad to hear they are getting attendance. I will probably attend more games this year. I wish they would go back to the old uniforms. White pants white jerseys with blue numbers for away games & white pants blue jerseys with white numbers for home games. A very clean, classic look.

Hey laidback, don't worry, the world hasn't come to an end... yet.  You will be pleased to know that at least (as far as I know.. there may be many more) BHS and Garces still provide great Thursday night dinners to the football team.  The varsity kids at BHS get Dewars milkshakes on a weekly basis.. because both George and Michael Dewar are "former" Drillers.. and great supporters of the program!  Garces gets Luigi's.  I know that, if you watch the news too long, you don't recognize the U.S.A. that you grew up in; however, it is alive and kicking in the central valley... if not for anything else but tackle football.

Sorry if I mislead you guys, I was referring to our mountain area, not other towns. Very pleased to learn that the tradition lives on in other towns. Maybe I will talk with our new coach & some restaurants to see if I can at least do a one time thing. Maybe it will jump start the parents to start it up again. Who knows, maybe it's already in the works.

Thats too bad... because a lot of kids lose the ability to play when you have that many kids and only one varsity team per sport.  I think its ridiculous that Central School District only has one high school for the number of students in their District...
