Buchanan falls back to middle to lower-tier in D1 this season
Just my opinion, but my opinion is right

Hanford deserves a ton of credit for their tremendous season.  They represented our section remarkably.  That said, to think they could be competitive with the big boys in D1 is laughable.  Great small school program, but you can't duplicate the size and speed that the good D1 schools lay out week after week.

I totally agree!  I love what Hanford accomplished last year.  But they lost a lot of players and I cant see them reloading on the same level.  Also, lets remember that the State Champion Bullpups got rolled by a D2 Lemoore team 41-7. The team they have this year wont be as good as last.   They could easily be 0-3 to start off the season.

Losing to a better team and getting "handled" are two very different things......this year we'll get to see how they stack up against a Clovis school (Buchanan) and a very high quality D2 team (Sanger). Regardless of the outcome of those two games, Hanford deserves the #1 ranking RIGHT NOW based on their performance last year.....they're the champs until they ain't no more.....the rankings are not an indication of who might beat who on any given Friday night......my personal opinion is that saying this team would handle them or that team would smoke them is disrespectful to their program and the work they've put in to earn a state championship regardless of the division.....

Very well put!

If Hanford was in D2 for the past couple years there would be no valley or D4 State Championship... There only 2 loses in those past 2 season came to Lemoore two years in a row, when Hanford was supposed to blow them out. To say they are number 1 in the valley, they should atleast be in D2, they win games but who are they playing in the playoffs again?...

What world where you living in?  Hanford was supposed to blow them out?  In 2014, both teams where 9-0 going into the game.  No one thought that a Lemoore team with wins over Buchanan and Clovis High was an underdog in that game.  You're smoking something.

In 2015 Hanford was 9-0 but Lemoore was 7-2 with losses only to those same two D1 teams and a win over Sanger.  Despite the record, there is no way that anyone had Hanford as a major favorite in that game considering how Lemoore had defended the rest of the league.

Realignment takes place in cycles of 2 to 3 years.  If you go back to 2013, Hanford was 4-7 and hardly a D2 team.  I'm sure they will be moved up next cycle.

That's not the way everyone was in Kings County talking. All I heard was Lemoore was supposed to lose in both games. All im saying is if Hanford was in D2 like they talk and they should be in D2 especially after winning a State CHAMPIONSHIP and they are still in D3 that doesn't make sense to me.

Have a clue, this past year's senior class at Lemoore had been playing football together since 5th grade.  Hanford was never a favorite to win the last 2 years.  Look at Hanford's roster size compared to Lemoore, I know Maxpreps shows Hanford had 52 but 14 of those were call ups.  Hanford's roster is usually around 35 kids, that is not big enough to play D2 every year.  If anything with all the talent that Lemoore has had the last 2 years, you can say they underachieved, while Hanford overachieved.  Hanford is your typical small town where you have a group of kids who play well together and achieve their team goals, while Lemoore played more as individuals and won league.  If you want Hanford to play D2 or D1, then close at least 1 high school so the talent isn't spread so thin.  Hanford will win games this year but they won't be the same because they lost a lot of leadership from last years team.  When all is said and done, don't worry about who is ranked #1 in Pre-season, it only matters who is ranked #1 at the end.

All I can say is as I drove by the fields last weekend I witnessed Centennial and BHS already practicing on their practice fields. That's the earliest I have ever seen this. No coaches present just the seniors leading the team in drills and practice wearing equipment.

Were the Drillers practicing on Griffith turf?
